JVRA is a great place for responsible individuals to work in the summertime. If you are 15 years of age (or will be by summer), can meet the certification and safety requirements, and enjoy swimming and spending time with kids and families in a great neighborhood pool setting, consider applying for positions available with JVRA for the summer.

All lifeguards are required to have current proof of your American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, American Red Cross First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Please enclose current copies, or note when you will have them available. They must be turned in before the pool opens. 
 
JVRA is now accepting applications for summer employment for the following positions:
  • Senior lifeguard: proven, experienced guards with primary responsibility for safe and efficient operation of pool during shifts; all guards work under direct supervision of pool manager but senior guards may act as assistant manager as needed.
  • Lifeguard: Experienced and responsible guards.  Must exhibit maturity and self-motivation commensurate with role.  Hours will vary, depending on guard’s desire, job performance, and the pool’s need.
  • Substitute lifeguard: typically first-time guards scheduled on an as-needed basis to fill weekly guard rotation schedules; must have good attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Swim team coach: skilled and certified swimmers selected to serve as coaches for the JVRA Blue Wave swim team; typically work approx. 20 hours per week during morning practice sessions and weekly swim meets.

Please note:
  • Requirements for the I-9 form:  Applicants must submit one document from list A or ONE EACH from lists B & C.  A copy of your driver’s license (permit) AND birth certificate will fulfill this requirement.
  • Applicants applying for both lifeguard and coaching positions must submit an application to each of the above JVRA hiring authorities.
  • Submit application and documents no later than April 1, 2016. See all documents at the bottom of this web page.
  • There will be a mandatory Lifeguard meeting on <Date TBD>.  Please put this on your calendar.
  • All certifications (as indicated on the employment application) must be obtained and documentation provided to JVRA before starting employment, even if offered a position before certification is complete.
  • All employment documents required by government must also be provided to JVRA before starting employment, even if offered a position.
  • JVRA membership is not a prerequisite for employment with JVRA; however, fully qualified applicants from JVRA member families in good standing will receive first consideration.  JVRA members also receive heavily discounted rates for lifeguard certification classes.
